BuzzGum to Represent Skibbereen Community School under PatchLabs at the National Student Enterprise Final
We are thrilled to announce that BuzzGum has qualified for the PatchLabs showcase at the National Final of the Student Enterprise Programme, taking place on Thursday, 8th May 2025, at the Mullingar Park Hotel. Representing Skibbereen Community School in West Cork, our team will be showcasing our innovative product.
BuzzGum is one of Ireland’s first natural, healthier and environmentally friendly chewing gum. Our biodegradable gum is designed to reduce litter and promote sustainability. The inspiration came from our shared love of chewing gum and the significant costs incurred by local councils, such as Cork County Council, in removing gum litter from public spaces. For instance, Cork City Council has previously allocated €40,000 annually for gum removal in the city centre.
The journey to develop Buzz Gum has been challenging, with numerous failed recipes, but our dedication has brought us close to perfecting our product. Our team comprises Kegan Evans (Director & Marketing Manager), Leo Farrell (Research & Financial Manager), and Conor Worboys (Production & Quality Manager).
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Mary O'Donovan, our amazing teacher, and Christine Duggan from LEO Cork North and West, for their unwavering support and guidance.
Our efforts have been recognized with a 2nd place finish in the regional finals as well as the Innovation Award at the Student Enterprise Programme.
We invite everyone to follow our journey on Instagram at buzzgum.official and TikTok at buzzgum.
Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to bring the buzz to Mullingar! 🐝💪
